Karak has a total area of 3372 sq.kms with a population size of 706,299 which comprises of 49% (approx.) male and 51% female population. The area has seen a population growth of approximately 39% in the last 19 years. Sustainable and pragmatic economic development of Karak District falls primarily on three sectors, namely Mineral Processing and Value Addition, Hydrocarbon Extraction and Oil & Gas support Industry. It is estimated that significantly large reserves of Limestone exist in Karak district. To back these sectors Karak District has minor potential in Agriculture and Horticulture as the weather is suitable for honey bee farming. Honey bee farming cluster can be strengthened by introducing new and modern techniques.
